Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am excited and honored to officially invite you to Athens-Greece and the 8th Congress of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders – European Chapter (IFSO-EC), which will be held May 17-19, 2018.
The Local Organizing Committee together with IFSO-EC’s Executive Board and Scientific Committee are putting all their effort into creating an attractive scientific programme that will benefit all professionals visiting our congress from across the world. Our main goal is to provide a platform where established knowledge could be shared and new ideas openly approached.
With a wide range of experts (surgeons, endocrinologists, internists, dieticians, phycologists and many more) active in the field of bariatric and metabolic surgery, we aim to create an opportunity that will bring to every participant unforgettable professional as well as personal experience.
Athens, a vibrant & modern European capital, situated at the foothills of the Acropolis and next to the sea, is a perfect location for international congresses & conventions. Easily accessible from every part of the world, it is considered to be one of the safest cities, providing abundant modern hotel accommodation and great opportunities for sightseeing, excursions and technical visits. Greece has always been at the crossroads of civilizations. This has left not only a rich inheritance of monuments and artifacts of unparalleled beauty, but also the capacity to understand and appreciate the value of this country.
Having a unique natural environment, surrounded by the “deep blue” Aegean Sea, it presents perfect conditions for recreation. May is probably the best season to visit Greece. While there are not too many tourists, the climate is warm enough to allow a visitor to combine business with pleasure in a very welcoming environment.
We envision a robust participation to a Congress of high standards that will provide a memorable occasion for scientific and cultural interface in what has been better known as the traditional “Greek Hospitality”. We are inviting you to experience “Breathtaking Athens” and ensure you that the 8th IFSO-EC Meeting, will leave its mark in IFSO history.
President of the IFSO-EC Congress
Dear colleagues, Dear friends,
As the current president of the IFSO-EC, it is my privilege and honour to invite you all to the next bi-annual IFSO-EC congress in Athens / Greece, May 17-19, 2018, under the local presidency of Prof Harris Pappis. The local organizing committee, together with IFSO-EC’s Executive Board and Scientific Committee, is working hard to put up exciting and interesting, but also interactive sessions where the latest developments in bariatric and metabolic surgery will be discussed, and more conventional knowledge will be deepened, but also challenged. IFSO-EC 2018 should be a congress where every European active in the bariatric field should be presenting their latest research. This meeting will bring together most European leaders and experts in the field and will bring the opportunity for social networking, exchange and friendship. Athens, a fascinating city that was already the heart of the antique Greek civilisation, with unique historical sites to visit, is also a good starting point for a pre-or post-congress tour across the country. And last but not least, Greek cuisine is reknown as tasty and particularly healthy. Come and join us in Athens in May 2018!
President of the IFSO European Chapter
